Supporting Local Farmers
The strong turnout and sales underline the festival’s role in promoting Qatari agricultural products and strengthening the presence of locally grown dates in the market.
The event also provided consumers with a direct opportunity to discover different varieties of fresh local dates and purchase products directly during the harvest season.
Boosting Qatar’s Agricultural Sector
The Ministry of Municipality said the festival forms part of its continued efforts to support local farmers by creating additional marketing outlets and improving the economic viability of domestic agriculture.
These initiatives are designed to encourage farmers to:
Increase agricultural production
Improve the quality of local products
Expand market access
Promote Qatari-grown agricultural products
Supporting Food Security
The initiative also contributes to Qatar’s wider efforts to strengthen food security and maintain sustainable domestic agricultural production.
By encouraging local farming and creating reliable sales channels, the Ministry aims to reduce barriers for farmers while giving consumers greater access to locally produced food.
Dates to Remain Available Until August 15
Following the festival, the Ministry is continuing to work with major shopping malls to ensure consumers can still purchase locally produced dates.
Participating outlets include:
-
Villaggio
-
Doha Festival City
-
Landmark
The dates will remain available for consumers until August 15, 2026, extending the festival’s marketing reach and providing continued support to Qatari farms during the production season.
Expanding Market Access for Local Products
The continued availability of Qatari dates through major retail outlets reflects the Ministry’s broader strategy to expand marketing opportunities for local products, make them more accessible to consumers and strengthen the sustainability of the country’s agricultural sector.
